Lecturer in International Relations

Goldsmiths, University of London

The Department of Politics and International Relations at Goldsmiths is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in International Relations with a research profile in critical approaches to the discipline.

We seek to appoint a candidate capable of teaching across the field of International Relations at undergraduate and MA level, including a second year module on Security Studies, and with a strong research profile in one or more of the following areas:

  • The politics of atrocity/violence/genocide.
  • The politics of migration and displacement.
  • The politics of transitional/post-conflict justice.
  • The politics of nature (e.g., climate change and the Anthropocene; industrialised food production; resource wars)

At Goldsmiths, we seek to redefine and expand the discipline of politics, pushing the discipline beyond its traditional parameters and comfort zones.

We approach International Relations from a critical and interdisciplinary perspective, and one that is defined by an emphasis on culture and is attentive to the Global South and the ‘margins’ of Europe. In so doing, we draw upon and engage with contemporary theoretical resources, including post-structuralism, feminism and post-colonialism.
