Teaching Laboratory Technician

University of Southampton - Department of Electronics and Computer Science (ECS)

The Department of Electronics and Computer Science (ECS) requires an Electronics Laboratory Technician to provide practical and innovative assistance to students and staff. 

You will contribute to the technical operation of the specialised practical teaching and project laboratories. You will be joining a friendly, motivated and dynamic team of technical specialists operating in superb teaching facilites with industry standard equipment.

You will be able to demonstrate an understanding and practical knowledge of a technical nature within an Electronic/Electrical Engineering environment. In particular, you will have experience of 3-phase electrical systems, motors and transformers and the ability to show others how to perform these tasks safely. 

You will be able to plan, organize and prioritise activities in busy teaching and project laboratories whilst maintaining customer requirements, have a strong commitment to safe working practices and will comply with relevant legislation. You will be able to manage conflicting and frequently changing priorities and will thrive in an environment that requires strong communication and interpersonal skills.
