Professor of Public Policy

University College London - Department of Political Science/School of Public Policy

The appointment will be on UCL Grade Professorial. The salary range will be At an appropriate point on the UCL Professorial scale, which starts at £69,039 per annum inclusive of London Allowance, inclusive of London Allowance.

The Department of Political Science is looking for a specialist in Public Policy with a reputation for international level research, an ability to provide intellectual leadership to a team of public policy scholars and a commitment to high-quality teaching.  The Department welcomes applications from candidates from all substantive areas of public policy, specialist topics and methodological orientations and will seek to appoint the best candidate whatever his or her specialist area.  However, an interest in a comparative approach, broadly conceived, would be an advantage, as would a supplementary interest in Public Management, though neither is essential.  The successful candidate will have an established portfolio of high-quality published work and show evidence of an ability to conduct research of international quality in the future.

As well as undertaking his or her own research, the appointee should make a contribution to the research culture of the Department. He or she will normally be expected to contribute the full professorial range of teaching within the Department.

The appointment is available from 1 September 2018 or as soon thereafter as is mutually agreed.

Candidates must have a PhD in Political Science or cognate discipline in Public Policy, a proven ability to undertake academic research of high internationally recognised quality, a proven track record of publications with major university publishers or leading journals in Public Policy, experience of promoting excellence in research-led teaching, experience in senior administrative roles and experience of supervising doctoral students and mentoring researchers.
