MRC Postdoctoral Research Scientist - Behaviour analytics and tracking

MRC London Institute of Medical Sciences

Applications are invited for a 3-year postdoctoral research position at the MRC London Institute of Medical Sciences (LMS) at Imperial College London (http://lms.mrc.ac.uk/).

We use large high-resolution datasets to understand the basic structure of behaviour in worms and humans. The goal is to identify the most informative features for genetic association studies and whole-animal drug screens. This position would give you access to rich datasets that are an ideal testbed for developing new methods for behaviour analytics with real biological impact. You will also work closely with experimentalists to put your methods into practice and follow leads that come out of analysis work.

We are looking for a highly-motivated and creative scientist with a PhD and a knack for quantitative data analysis. Good coding skills are essential, previous work with Python and OpenCV is desirable. Experience with machine learning (including deep learning), image analysis, and tracking would also be an asset.

The Behavioural Genomics lab is a friendly interdisciplinary team headed by Dr André Brown in the Integrative Biology section of the LMS. For more information, see the group’s website at http://behave.lms.mrc.ac.uk/.

The post is an MRC Postdoctoral Scientist position providing training and development supporting post-doctoral scientists in early or changed career paths helping establish them as successful research scientists in their chosen field. We offer a highly attractive benefits package including competitive salary, excellent holiday entitlement and final salary pension scheme.
