EngD Studentship in Water Engineering

Imperial College London - Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering

Transforming Slow Sand Filter Operations for Drinking Water Supply

An Engineering Doctorate (EngD) studentship with a focus on Water Engineering is available in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Imperial College London starting in October 2018. The studentship is funded through the STREAM Industrial Doctorate Centre for the UK Water Sector (www.stream-idc.net). This unique 4-year studentship allows doctoral-level research to be conducted while working directly with an industrial partner in the water sector. The programme will also allow the participant to receive postgraduate-level technical and transferable skills training at five leading UK universities in the water research field.

The studentship is for £19,600 per year for the first two years and £20,600 per year for the third and fourth years. Applicants must have 'settled status' in the UK (i.e. they must be ordinarily resident in the UK and free from any restriction on the period for which they may stay in the UK) and have been ordinarily resident in the UK for the past 3 years. Imperial College requires candidates entering a postgraduate research degree programme to hold a relevant undergraduate degree with a good 2(i) classification or higher and also a Masters Level qualification.

The EngD research project will focus on ‘Transforming Slow Sand Filter Operations for Drinking Water Supply’ and will supervised by Professor Nigel Graham (n.graham@imperial.ac.uk) with Thames Water and other UK water utilities as industrial partners.

For further information on the project please visit the link: http://www.imperial.ac.uk/media/imperial-college/faculty-of-engineering/civil/public/phd-opportunities/STREAM-EngD-Studentship_EWRE-website-NG.pdf

To be considered for the studentship, please submit a CV, a cover letter highlighting your relevant background and experience, and two referees, to Professor Nigel Graham (n.graham@imperial.ac.uk).
