Bursaries for the MSc Applied Quantitative Methods at Manchester Metropolitan University

A number of bursaries available each worth £14,388 for 2018-19 entry.

Manchester Metropolitan University Q-Step Centre is located in the Department of Sociology. We are currently seeking highly motivated graduates for our MSc programme in Applied Quantitative Methods, for which a number of bursaries are available. The MSc approaches the study of quantitative methods in an innovative way, which develops career-ready skills that prepare students for work with data and quantitative analysis. This programme is also excellent grounding for doctoral study.

The course emphasises the development and application of key quantitative methods and analytical techniques. It focuses on the use of quantitative methods within ‘real world’ contexts and a key aim is to develop graduates’ career-ready skills in this field. The course offers a number of core and optional units including foundations of quantitative analysis, multiple regression, multi-level modelling, questionnaire design, quantitative evaluation, mixed methods, data management. The core unit called ‘Statistics in Practice’ explores knowledge exchange, mobilisation and achieving impact with research. The course culminates in a placement-based dissertation, in which students will produce a piece of research on behalf of one of our partner organisations.

The bursary is available full-time over one year only with the successful candidate being based at the Manchester campus.

The successful candidates should have a first class degree and a commitment to furthering their knowledge and understanding of quantitative research. It is not necessary for their first degree to include statistical analysis. However, a good grounding in research methodology would be an advantage.
