Research Associate/Assistant in Planning and Scheduling under Uncertainty for the Process Industry

We are looking for an outstanding researcher with extensive experience in modelling and optimisation techniques for planning and scheduling, to work on a project to assess the impact of uncertainty on optimal decision making in the process industry. The project is funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and is in collaboration with investigators from the Department of Computing at Imperial College London and Imperial Business School. All the investigators are members of the Centre for Process Systems Engineering (CPSE), a joint centre between Imperial College London and University College London.

The successful candidate must have (or be in the process of submitting) a PhD in Chemical Engineering, or a closely related discipline. It will be required that the postholder will interact very closely with the researchers in the other participating universities and write up results in international journals and present at conferences. The post holder will be expected to assist in the management of the project at UCL. The candidate should be creative and knowledgeable with advanced understanding of process systems, planning and scheduling, supply chains, mathematical programming, and computational model-based techniques for optimisation. For the Research Associate position, the applicant must either have already completed a doctorate, or have submitted his or her thesis prior to taking up the post.
