Head of Communications

Job Purpose
The Head of Communications will lead on the design and delivery of all internal and external communications and will directly line manage a small team within the Communications and Public Affairs Office. This new and exciting role reporting directly to the Director of Communications and Public Affairs, will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive and effective communication and engagement strategies and deliverables aligned with the strategic ambitions and organisational goals of the University.

The role will:

  • Lead on the development and delivery of communication and engagement strategies, and the provision of timely, appropriate and engaging communications and activities across the University.
  • Comprehensively oversee and manage communications relating to the major development of the Gilmorehill campus encompassing various audiences: staff; students; stakeholders and messaging for wider media and social media.
  • Proactively manage external communications outputs of the University, to increase the profile of the University regionally, nationally and globally.
  • Support the University to raise the visibility of its research excellence internally and externally.
  • Protect and enhance the reputation of the University, providing guidance to senior colleagues on all aspects of communication and engagement.

Standard Terms & Conditions
Salary will be on the Management, Professional and Administrative Grade, level 8, £42,418 - £49,149 per annum.

This post is offered on a full time (35 hours) and open-ended basis.

New entrants to the University will be required to serve a probationary period of 6 months.

The successful applicant will be eligible to join the Universities’ Superannuation Scheme. Further information regarding the scheme is available from the Superannuation Officer, who is also prepared to advise on questions relating to the transfer of Superannuation benefits.

It is expected that interviews will be held on Monday 12 March.
