Head of Administration

Queen Mary University of London - Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences - School of English & Drama

The School of English and Drama, within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences are looking to recruit a Head of Administration, who will play a major strategic and operational role in enabling the continued success and future development of the School.

You will be responsible for managing a team of professional support staff within the School of English and Drama, and for working effectively with the School’s academic staff and senior management, particularly the Head of School and Heads of Department, and other areas of the university to achieve the School’s goals across the range of its activities.

Reporting to the Faculty Operating Officer, you will have a key role to play both at School and at Faculty level. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate an understanding of both the needs of the School and Faculty within the wider university and sectoral context.

You will have significant management experience within the Higher Education sector, including resource management, financial management and people management. As a strong communicator, you will be able to use your influencing and persuasion skills with senior stakeholders. Proven ability of managing and leading significant changes, together with strong organisational and analytical skills, are also essential.

The post is full time and permanent with an expected start date of 25 June 2018. Starting salary will be in the range £53,777 to £60,109 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, a defined benefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
