Senior Analyst Developer (Learning Applications)

The Information Services Division supports and enhances learning, teaching, research and a range of administrative processes across UCL. We are seeking an experienced and dynamic person to join our Learning Applications team, deputising for the team leader and taking operational ownership of some services as and when required. The team aim is to support, drive and develop our suite of services, which currently include: 

  • Moodle
  • Turnitin
  • Mahara
  • ObjectPlanet Opinio
  • Atlassian Confluence
  • WordPress
  • Axiell Adlib.

These services are critical to the student/staff experience at UCL and play a key role in enabling academics and students throughout UCL to effectively manage and integrate online resources into their teaching and learning.

Essential requirements include demonstrable experience of best practice IT service management and software development, and the ability to develop effective working relationships across the organisation. The successful candidate will work on the operations for the applications managed by the team, maintaining the solution architecture in line with UCL standards and applying best practice IT service management. You will be able to demonstrate strong knowledge and experience in application support and development in a complex environment. You will lead the installation, configuration, maintenance, testing and operation of these services, including 3rd line support and troubleshooting, performance monitoring, and maintenance of related add-ons written in Java (Spring Framework) or PHP.

Note that this role is for the installation and configuration of these applications on the central servers, NOT the content creation.
