Postdoctoral Research Fellow

The University of Edinburgh - Centre for Inflammation Research

Fixed term with an end date of 30.9.2020

A Cancer Research UK funded 2.5 year post-doctoral position is available with Professor Sarah Walmsley within the MRC Centre for Inflammation Research, University of Edinburgh, to define the changes in neutrophil metabolite utilization and flux that regulate pro-tumour neutrophil responses in patients with Glioblastoma (GBM) tumours. Glioblastomas are the most prevalent type of malignant brain tumour with a median survival time from diagnosis of only 6-9 months. GBMs are characterised by a high degree of regional hypoxia and a high neutrophil infiltrate.  The role these recruited neutrophils play in controlling disease progression remains poorly understood and is the focus for this program of work.

This post requires a PhD and expertise in myeloid cell isolation, cell culture techniques and flow based neutrophil phenotyping.

For informal enquiries please contact Sarah.walmsley@ed.ac.uk

Closing Date: 2nd March 2018 at 5 pm.
