The Clinical Research Facility (CRF) at Alder Hey Children’s hospital is a purpose built facility based in the heart of the hospital. The CRF was awarded renewed funding by NIHR from April 2017 to support experimental medicine and early phase clinical trials over 5 years. With a growing portfolio of academic and commercial studies the CRF Operational Manager will work with the operational and senior management teams to ensure delivery and growth of this portfolio to time, cost and quality through the efficient utilisation of resources available and in line with the CRF strategy.

The CRF works closely with colleagues throughout the whole of the University of Liverpool’s Faculty of Health and Life Sciences, as part of the panUniversity/Alder Hey strategic partnership focussed on improving “Children’s Health and Wellbeing”, and with colleagues at Liverpool John Moores University, Edge Hill University and the University of Central Lancashire.

Within this rich clinical academic research environment, the CRF has four Clinical Experimental Themes, including Infection, Inflammation (including rheumatology and nephrology), Oncology and Neuroscience. In addition, there are three Clinical Experimental Clusters, namely: Clinical pharmacology and Dose optimisation, Formulations, and Innovation in devices.

You will be passionate about paediatric research and have an understanding of the importance of placing children, young people and their families at the heart of our research.

You will work closely with dedicated team of research professionals including clinical and non clinical staff. You will have line management responsibility, supporting the development of a small number of direct line reports.

You will have strong networking skills to develop and build relationships with the CRF stakeholders and potential partners at both a local and national level.

You will be responsible for the performance management of the CRF portfolio and be competent in the use of relevant project management tools to drive the business of research.

This post includes the necessity for occasional travel across the UK.
