PMRU Research Co-ordinator

Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust

We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and highly organised individual to co-ordinate a vibrant portfolio of studies within the Liverpool Paediatric Medicines Research Unit (PMRU). The PMRU is a collaboration between Alder Hey, Liverpool Women’s Hospital, two Schools of Pharmacy at Liverpool John Moores University and University of Central Lancashire, the University of Liverpool and Edge Hill University. The PMRU has a portfolio of studies in paediatric medicines and formulations, including acceptability of medicines, adverse drug reactions, manipulation of drugs and pharmacy practice. The unit includes academic leadership, post-doctoral pharmacists, qualitative research expertise and pharmacy research interns. The PMRU collaborates with international academic partners and the commercial sector.

The Clinical Study Co-ordinator will lead on the set up and delivery of studies of paediatric medicines and their acceptability. In addition, the postholder will work alongside other members of the PMRU team in supporting and co-ordinating other studies in the Unit’s portfolio. The postholder will be based in the Institute in the Park on the state of the art Alder Hey Hospital in the Park campus.

The individual must be educated to degree level in a science, nursing, pharmacy or related subject. Applicants must have experience of: regulatory approvals for clinical studies in the UK; leading or contributing to protocol development; team working. Applicants must have excellent communication skills and project management experience. Applicants must have knowledge of: taking informed consent from children and parents; quantitative and qualitative research methods. Specialist knowledge or experience of paediatric medicines and experience of working in the NHS are desirable but not essential.
