SALARY SCALE £39,992- £47,722 (for Grade 8 appointments). Exceptionally, an appointment at Grade 9 (£50,618- £56,950) or even Grade 10 (starting from £58,655)

Building on the outstanding successes of our previous tenure-track Chancellor’s Fellowship programmes and our world class research performance, the college of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine are investing in a further cohort of next generation research innovation leaders of the highest quality who use data science within their work. We would particularly welcome applications which focus on:

  • Data-driven innovation for sustainable agriculture to enhance farm animal productivity, health and welfare.
  • Informatics applied to animal breeding (e.g. data analysis for quantitative genetics and functional annotation of animal genomes; computational theory for breeding programme design; data-intensive phenotyping including imaging & sensor technology; integration of production-relevant data at animal and farm scale)
  • Data science for veterinary epidemiology and the control of animal diseases and zoonoses (e.g. mathematical modelling; sequence-based analysis of pathogen evolution & risk; impact of diseases & interventions).
  • Data driven innovation in Agricultural and Resource Economics, Policy, global food & environmental security and Computational Methods and AgriFood Systems.

You will already have established a reputation for the high quality of your data-driven research and innovation. You will have a commitment to develop your skills in on-line teaching at scale at a University level. Colleagues with translational-industrial, public and third sector linkages, international academics and those interested in interdisciplinary collaboration are particularly welcomed.

You will initially concentrate on world class research and innovation working closely with the private, public and third sector in a data-enabled theme, with a focus on delivering high impact results. We will provide you with a generous start-up package and training in contemporary on-line and blended education and industry engagement skills. You will be expected to progressively take up more of these core academic activities over time. It is anticipated that following a successful end of year 3 review the majority of Chancellors Fellows will transition to an open-ended post at an appropriate grade.
