AgriFood is a key part of the University of York’s (UoY) research portfolio: in addition to RCUK, InnovateUK, H2020 and charities, significant research income derives from commercial contracts with major industries. “AgriFood at York (https://www.york.ac.uk/research/in-focus/agrifood/)” brings together our world-leading centres (https://www.york.ac.uk/research/in-focus/agrifood/about/) and projects (https://www.york.ac.uk/research/in-focus/agrifood/research/) to tackle global problems and links York's research into the N8 AgriFood programme (https://www.n8agrifood.ac.uk/) that York leads.

Funded through jointly through the N8 programme and UoY, the Research Development and Knowledge Exchange Manager (AgriFood) will be key in amplifying the social and economic impact of the research insights generated within the programme coupled with generating further research income, particularly in resilient food supply chains, and improved nutrition and consumer behaviours.

The role holder will be based within the University of York’s successful Research Development Team, part of Research and Enterprise. You will work closely with the Director of AgriFood at York and N8 Research Chair, Professor Bob Doherty and the AgriFood at York Steering Group to take a prominent role in supporting strategic thinking; in expanding research and related opportunities across the three faculties; in supporting the development of knowledge and impact; and by providing effective ‘hands-on’ support to academics in the development of their applications. Importantly, you will develop and maintain external relationships with funders and non-academic partners. You will also support the York AgriFood Theme leads, helping shape and deliver their interdisciplinary programme of activities.

You will have good analytical skills that enable you to understand the research funding landscape, the needs of external stakeholders, our capabilities and our uniqueness. You will have excellent communication and influencing skills and be able to bring diverse groups together. You will be resilient, enjoying managing a diverse workload, have a high degree of organisation and bring a positive attitude to team working.

Salary within the range: £38,832 - £47,722 a year on Grade 7 of the University’s salary scales.
