The Centre for Clinical Research, Epidemiology, Modelling and Evaluation, within the Institute for Global Health, are seeking to appoint a full time, Research Statistician.  The post-holder will join the Centre which is based at the Royal Free Campus in Hampstead, London.  The Centre contains a large number of statisticians and epidemiologists working on the design and analysis of studies of HIV infection and other infectious diseases.  The main interests of the Group include clinic based observational cohort studies, randomized trials, and modelling studies.  The Group is co-led by Professors Andrew Phillips and Caroline Sabin.

The post-holder will undertake analyses of the UK CHIC study, as agreed with Professor Sabin, and perform data management duties in collaboration with the study Database Manager.  Contributing to the design and analysis of future sub-studies from this large collaborative study.  Within the Group analyses are performed in the statistical package SAS and it is important that the post-holder be prepared to use this package for analysis, to allow sharing of code and expertise across the Group.

The post is full time, funded by the MRC, and is available from 1st March 2018 until 31st August 2019.

The position will be based at the UCL Royal Free Hospital Campus, Hampstead, London.

The successful applicant will hold an MSc in Medical Statistics, epidemiology or equivalent with significant statistical content, including analyses of longitudinal data. They will have knowledge of use of the statistical package SAS and be willing to adopt use of this package. 

An interest or background in the subject area, particularly HIV infection and its treatment is essential.  The post-holder will have excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate statistical concepts effectively to those with only minimal statistical knowledge. The ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team is also essential.
