Senior Technician – Molecular Beam Epitaxy Systems (Engineering)

An exciting opportunity has arisen to become a member of the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering (EEE) at The University of Sheffield. This role carries responsibility for installing, commissioning and operating a state-of-the-art molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) cluster tool as part of a joint EEE/Physics project being hosted by the EPSRC National Epitaxy Facility (NEF). We are seeking a science or engineering graduate (or experienced professional) with a demonstrable aptitude for troubleshooting, and maintaining to a high standard, mechanical and electrical systems in a laboratory, industrial and/or manufacturing environment.

The National Epitaxy Facility is a collaboration between the Universities of Sheffield, Cambridge and University College London and is funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) as part of a network of National Research Centres. The Facility’s mission is to provide a semiconductor epitaxy service to UK academics and industrial customers; providing a range of bespoke epitaxial wafers and devices that underpin world-class semiconductor research in the UK and helping to support the impact of this research in the Nation’s scientific and industrial strategy.
