The Department of Media Services are seeking to recruit an outstanding Media Teaching Officer to join their creative and innovative media teaching team within the Directorate of Information Services.

This role will involve working in the Media Teaching Centre to supervise the technician team. You will assist the Media Teaching Centre Manager to create and deliver practical film and media teaching on a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate film and media courses.

You will have a diverse skill-set and be very knowledgeable on all aspects of media and film production and post production. You will need to have extensive knowledge of camera technologies, lighting set ups and sound recording, feeling confident enough to design and run practical workshops. You will also have an in-depth knowledge of editing software including Avid, Final Cut Pro X and Adobe Premiere. You will offer extensive post production support at our facilities and have knowledge of digital workflows, file formats and video compression.

As well as partaking in teaching, this position will also involve supervising the Media Teaching Centre equipment and facility loan service. This service offers camera, lighting and sound equipment and post production facilities to staff and students on a daily basis. The role demands you will have excellent standards of customer service and are able to support staff and students at our enquiry point.

You should have a degree or equivalent in an area related to media or film and essentially will have a strong track record of working in the media production industry. Previous teaching / demonstrative experience in higher education or media related environment, involving the delivery of technical information is desirable.
