Senior Lectureship in Social Policy (Housing)

The Post

The Faculty of Social Sciences is seeking to appoint a full-time Senior Lecturer with a specialism in housing that is compatible with and complementary to our existing research interests. The appointee will contribute to research programmes and will be a major contributor to the MSc/Diploma in Housing Studies programme. Applicants should be prepared to research and teach in a multidisciplinary environment and will have a strong commitment to education and research in their area; to team working; and to enhancing the contribution of their research and education to the Faculty and University. There is an expectation that the Senior Lecturer will take on leadership of the Housing Studies programme, and work to internationalise the Stirling offering.

Description of Duties

The postholder will be responsible for the full range of duties associated with the delivery of undergraduate and post-graduate education in Housing Studies and for conducting research in their specialist area. This will include:

Providing academic leadership including maintaining an overview of external funding and strategic research developments;

Conducting high quality research and publishing in their field;

Raising external research funding, in collaboration with colleagues across the Faculty and University;

Being an active member of a relevant Research Group in FSS and linking to a relevant University Research Programme;

Assisting with managing resources for the education programmes in Social Policy and Housing Studies (undergraduate and postgraduate) and with leading future developments in these programmes;

Co-ordinating modules as required entailing the development of teaching materials, direct teaching and assessment;

Contributing specialist teaching input to Faculty programmes as appropriate;

Recruiting and supervising PhD students.
