Cyber security is a broad and emerging multidisciplinary academic field, ranging from problems that are highly technical to those that are the social and cultural. The successful candidate will strengthen the existing HCI group and should demonstrate how they will contribute to our research and teaching agendas. We currently have strengths in physical interfaces/ interactions; mobile and ubiquitous computing; safe and secure healthcare technologies; and well-being; and resource constrained communities; see www.fitlab.eu. However we will welcome applications in any area of HCI that will enhance our Cyber Security research. The successful candidate will benefit from state-of-the-art research labs, in particular UX and Maker Labs, as part of the Computational Foundry (see below).

This post is part of an initiative to drive forward Cyber Security research at Swansea, and to collaborate internationally with academia and industry. The Department has prioritized growth in the area of security research and is advertising four positions aligned to Cyber Security. The Department is planning to offer an MSc in Cyber Security, which will provide a pool of professionals and academics keen to undertake research and development, or provide professional services, in the field. Furthermore, as part of its new Computational Foundry, there is new space for a Cyber Security Lab to be shaped by the successful candidates to serve their research needs.

This post will contribute to the Computational Foundry. The Computational Foundry has been part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the Welsh Government and Swansea University. The Computational Foundry will make Swansea a beacon for Computer Science, attracting and retaining world class researchers.

This post will close at midnight 4 April 2018.
