Full Time, Fixed Term until May 2019

The post is based in the Centre for Liver Research working with Prof Phil Newsome and Dr Chris Weston, in the College of Medicine and Dentistry, University of Birmingham. Funding is available for 12 months as part of a research programme focussing on non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.

The post holder will be involved in the research activities within the group aimed at elucidating the anti-inflammatory contribution of new agents in models of non-alcoholic fatty liver injury. The work will involve in vitro and in vivo experiments.

The post holder will contribute directly to the research output by carrying out experiments alone and in collaboration with other members of the group. The candidate should have PhD qualifications and practical experience with tissue processing, staining, and cell culture techniques. Experience of animal work is essential.

First degree in area of specialism and normally, a higher degree relevant to research area or equivalent qualifications

High level analytical capability

Ability to communicate complex information clearly

Fluency in relevant models, techniques or methods and ability to contribute to developing new ones

Ability to assess resource requirements and use resources effectively

Understanding of and ability to contribute to broader management/administration processes

Full time starting salary is normally in the range £29,799 to £38,832. With potential progression once in post to £41,212 a year.
