Non-Clinical (UE10, £58,655 - £98,401 per annum based on 35 hours per week) or Clinical (ACN4, £78,304 - £105,570 per annum based on 40 hours per week

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the Chair of Public Health based in the Usher Institute of Population Health Sciences and Informatics in the University of Edinburgh’s College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine. This is one of the most distinguished chairs of public health in the world and a key leadership appointment for the College. The appointee will be supported to build upon the excellence in public health, primary care, epidemiology and statistics, clinical trials, health services research, health-related social sciences, health informatics and global health to create an outstanding internationally competitive public health research and educational grouping. The appointee will play a key role in research and teaching in the College and University and lead knowledge translation into clinical and public health practice for the benefit of patients and populations, both locally in NHS Lothian/Scotland and beyond.

Applicants will have an outstanding strong track record of research in public health policy and practice supported by external grant funding and will develop a world-leading programme of research. Evidence of international excellence in research, academic leadership and strategic planning is essential. The applicant should have a commitment to develop and support relevant learning and teaching programmes, contributing, for example, to the Undergraduate MBChB Medicine degree, the  Masters in Public Health (on campus and distance learning), the MSc Clinical Trials (distance learning) and the Master of Family Medicine programmes. All applicants will need to demonstrate commitment and capacity for multi-disciplinary working and be willing to engage with our many new initiatives including in primary care, digital science and global health.
