Salary in the range: £36,800 to £44,220 per annum

Fixed Term full time position until 31 December 2020

Job Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Associate to work at the Data Science Institute with the founding Director Professor Yike Guo and his team.

Imperial College have recently signed a five-year agreement with HNA to establish the HNA Research Centre for Future Data Ecosystems. The aim of the Centre is to promote theory and technology development and innovation in the field of data economy. The Centre will generate and be responsible for the management of interdisciplinary research projects in the field of data economy.

Duties and responsibilities
The post holder will contribute to several projects as part of the Centre, including the development of cryptocurrency system and smart contract platform based on block-chain technology, and the application of block-chain technology in real-world scenarios such as finance and logistics.

Essential requirements

  • PhD (or equivalent) in Computer Science or a closely related discipline, or equivalent research, industrial or commercial experience.
  • Experience in block-chain technology and a broad range of techniques including but not limited to machine learning and data analytics are required
  • Practical experience in a broad range of techniques including but not limited to machine learning and data analytics
  • Knowledge of cryptography, especially cryptocurrencies
  • Knowledge of finance, economics, and markets
  • Strong programming skills and proven experience with application development are advantaged

A proven research record with publications in the relevant areas is also required. You must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
