Demonstrator in Games Technology/Programming (Fixed Term)

The Faculty of Science and Technology has an established reputation with a strong educational and research-oriented focus on STEM related subjects, under which the Department of Creative Technology is offering three undergraduate programmes in games development as well as related research work.

As a Demonstrator in Games Technology/Programming, you will be able to demonstrate technical skills across the range of units within our undergraduate programmes in the Department of Creative Technology. Enthusiastic about student-centred pedagogy, you will make a significant and impactful contribution to the delivery of the programmes involved.

This is a fixed term, 12-month role, covering for an established member of staff on a career break.

You will be qualified to Degree/Masters level or be able to demonstrate the ability to create and disseminate knowledge at an equivalent level. You will be committed to a culture of academic excellence and continuous improvement.

Applications are welcome from those with particular expertise in the areas of C++ programming (plus related paradigms such as object oriented programming). Any graphics programming API skills such as with one of OpenGL and/or DirectX would be desirable. You may be expected to work with contemporary game engines, i.e. one of Unreal, Unity and/or CryEngine (to name a few examples).

Prior experience in the theory of games design, game 3D modelling, texturing for games, character modelling, rigging and animation using tools such as Maya would also be desirable. Any industry experience would be advantageous.
