The Faculty of Arts and Creative Industries consists of two schools: Media and Communications and Art & Design. The School of Art & Design has around six hundred students across two academic teams ‘Arts’ and ‘Design’. The school has eleven undergraduate programmes and six masters programmes. Undergraduate Arts programmes include: Fine Art, Glass and Ceramics and Photography, Video and Digital Imaging. The ‘Arts’ team also has strengths in practice based PhDs and strong links with National Glass Centre and the Northern Gallery for Contemporary Art. The Photography team was awarded an HEA CATE award for work with NEPN in 2016. 

Providing academic leadership and operational management to the Arts academic team in line with Faculty plans and objectives, you will contribute to the provision of excellent academic practice within the Faculty by making a balanced contribution across all areas of academic activity as appropriate.

You will have a first degree or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant discipline and a relevant postgraduate qualification as well as higher education teaching experience matching subject areas offered as part of the current curriculum within the Arts team (which includes Fine Art, Glass and Ceramics and Photography, Curating and Art & Design Foundation).

You will be a proven and effective academic and research leader with line management experience who is recognised externally as a scholar / teacher or authority in a relevant Arts  subject area. You will also be able to demonstrate a track record in developing peer-reviewed published work or peer-reviewed public exhibition and of delivering and designing academic programmes.
