This post is to work on an 18 months project entitled ‘Big Data Content Analytics with Topic Models’ funded by the Technology Strategy Board in collaboration with Microports.Net Limited and Iizuka Software Technologies Limited. Reporting to the Principal Investigator, Dr Yulan He, the post will be physically located within the School of Engineering and Applied Science. 

The project concerns big data exploitation but with an innovative focus on content analytics on unstructured data (i.e. documents of all types – medical reports, legal documents, insurance claims, etc.). The RA will work closely with two project partners on exploring deep learning methods and statistical models for big content data exploitation and visualisation. There will be opportunities to develop research profile, to travel to give demos and presentations, and to write academic papers.

Candidates should hold a PhD degree in Computer Science or other relevant discipline and/or equivalent experience. The successful candidate will possess skills in machine learning, statistical modeling and natural language processing. Some experience of deep learning and/or topic modelling would be beneficial. The starting date will be as soon as possible after the interview: the post is for a fixed term of 18 months.
