Senior IT and AV Officer

University College London - UCL Information Services Division

The Information Services Division (ISD) exists to support and enhance learning, teaching, research and associated administrative processes at UCL with a range of IT services. Within the ISD, IT for SLMS (School of Life and Medical Sciences) supports and enhances research, teaching and associated administrative processes across the four Faculties that make up the School; Population Health Sciences, Medical Sciences, Life Sciences and Brain Sciences.

We are currently recruiting for a full time member of staff to join the IT for SLMS team and take on the role of Senior IT & AV Officer, supporting SLMS staff, students and researchers – primarily in the Bloomsbury area, though the post holder will be required to travel to other UCL locations within the London area.

The purpose of the Senior IT & AV Officer role is to deliver prompt, customer-focused, 1st and 2nd line support. The post holder will be expected to provide support for computer desktops, mobile devices, audio visual & multimedia equipment, printers, specialist equipment and other peripherals located across UCL sites as required, as well as providing expert guidance to SLMS staff and researchers.

The successful candidate will have experience of providing 1st line and 2nd line technical support to a variety of end users, including assisting with the installation of client devices (mainly Windows PCs & Macs, with some Linux), audio visual equipment and other associated peripherals. Knowing the manual is good, but being able to apply the contents in a real-world situation is better and the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate that they can think on their feet, apply their knowledge and solve IT problems regardless of the operating system, user or location.
