Research Associate in Perinatal Neurobiology

The postholder will work under the supervision of Prof Peebles and Dr Waddington in the Gene Transfer Group in the Department of Maternal Fetal Medicine. The postholder will be responsible for carrying out a series of experiments to assess the efficacy of a vector delivered antimicrobial peptide to prevent ascending microbial infection in pregnant mice. An important aspect will be the histological assessment of neurological damage in the developing brain.

The appointment is available from 1st May 2018, and is funded by Action Medical research 12 months in the first instance, but with an anticipated extension to April 30th 2020.

The postholder should be an experienced postdoctoral researcher with evidence of ability to work with mouse colonies, the use of standard techniques to quantify neuroinflammation and brain injury and a developed understanding of statistical analysis. We would expect the applicant to be a good team worker with the desire to learn new techniques and the ability to communicate research findings effectively.
