Research Associate

Contract Type: Fixed-term for 36 months

A Research Associate is sought in the Department of Chemistry to work in the group of Professor Iain Coldham on an EPSRC funded project. The research is in synthetic organic chemistry in collaboration with Professor Anthony Meijer (University of Sheffield) and Dr Jiwu Ruan (Liverpool ChiroChem). The research will develop asymmetric organometallic chemistry and an understanding of the methodology to give novel substituted nitrogen-containing heterocycles. For further information see or contact Professor Coldham at You will hold (or be about to obtain) a PhD in chemistry or have equivalent experience and must be capable of advancing the project in all aspects including organic synthesis, organometallic chemistry, theoretical calculations, and medicinal chemistry. You will have research experience in organic chemistry, demonstrated by high quality publications, and experience of motivating and communicating with a team. You will have effective communication skills, with an ability asses and organise resources and to analyse and solve problems with an appreciation of implications. This position is fixed-term for 36 months with a start date of 1 May 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter.
