Research Associate

University College London - UCL Computer Science

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research associate to work with Dr Emine Yilmaz on the EPSRC Project “Task Based Information Retrieval”. The final goal of the project is to devise retrieval algorithms that can provide end users with task completion assistance. The project concerns the development of machine learning algorithms for inferring types of tasks people use search engines for by mining query logs, task extraction, evaluating the quality of task extraction systems and construction of knowledge-bases.

The duration of the post is for 3 years in the first instance.

Candidate should have a PhD in Machine Learning, Data Mining or other relevant Computer Science area. Knowledge on machine learning, deep learning and probabilistic graphical models are essential (as demonstrated by a strong publication record), and knowledge of bayesian nonparametrics, recommendation systems, user modelling and personalization techniques are highly desirable.
