First Assistant in Modern English Literature

The Faculty of Arts of the University of Lausanne invites applications for a full-time premier·ère assistant·e (First Assistant) in Modern English Literature in the English Department.

Job information
Expected start date: 1st August 2018.
Contract length : One-year contract, followed by two-year contract, renewable once only, for a total of five years maximum.
Activity rate: 100%
Institution: Lausanne - Dorigny

Your responsibilities

  • 50% of your time will be devoted to realising a research project in the field of modern English literature.
  • 50% of your time will be dedicated to teaching, under the direction of a professor, and to administration in the English Dept.

The teaching will consist of two courses per semester : one course each semester at first year level, i.e. academic writing, literary analysis ; and one more advanced seminar at second or third year level, or lectures on the history of modern English literature.

Your qualifications
A doctorate in Modern English Literature.

Priority will be given to candidates with research interest and expertise in British or Irish twentieth century literature, 1900-1945.

Experience teaching English literature at University level is required.

Proficiency in French is required.
