Senior Business & Innovation Manager

The appointment will be on UCL Grade 9. The salary range will be £55,163 - £59,981 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.

The TRO builds on an increasingly vibrant translational culture across the UCL School of Life and Medical Sciences (SLMS) and the wider university community by providing integrated support for translational research, drug discovery, business development and innovative academic led industrial partnerships.

The main purpose of this role is to deliver tailor-made strategies for Industrial engagement across SLMS cross-school/faculty that enhance the translation of UCL’s research in Healthcare.

B&I Managers support the Therapeutic Innovation Networks (TINs) strategy through extensive collaboration across UCL to identify opportunities, develop communities and promotion of TINs with external partners. The position requires an individual with the excellent interpersonal skills to manage a diverse set of relationships with senior personnel from academia, the National Health Service (NHS) and commercial partners and an innovative approach to identifying and defining high-value opportunities.

Develop and oversee the bottom-up strategy of linking UCL’s translational science, with focus on Therapeutic Innovation Networks (TINs) and core strengths to the Healthcare sector.

Position is funded for two years in the first instance.

Experience of working within a large research organisation, University or Industry to develop academic partnerships.

Experience of identifying, initiating and maintaining project and partnership activity and maximising relations with relevant parties and services (from inception to completion through to alliance management).

Demonstrable experience of writing strategic planning documents for a senior and technical audience.
