Senior Lecturer in Geology

The Department of Geography and Environmental Management is a multi-disciplinary department that delivers a range of programmes in the fields of geography, geology, environmental management and sustainability, tourism, planning, civil and environmental engineering and transport.

We are seeking to appoint two Senior Lecturers in Geology who will focus on teaching and supporting students on our BSc (Hons) Geology programme, with contributions to Geography and Civil Engineering as appropriate. The Department is particularly looking to grow its expertise in the following areas:

  • Sedimentary geology, palaeontology and applied sedimentology.
  • Igneous and metamorphic petrology, structural geology, geophysics, tectonic processes and landforms.
  • Hydrogeology and geotechnical processes, hazards and management.

The appointees will also be expected to engage in research, scholarship and publication with the aim of contributing to future REF submissions or their equivalent. You will join a thriving community of academics engaged in a broad range of research and scholarly activities.

You will work in an environment where talent and career aspirations are nurtured and supported. Applicants who are at the beginning of their academic career will be supported to become excellent teachers by undertaking the Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education.
