Senior Fashion Technician (Sewing)

To provide specialist technical support to Fashion students in the construction and assembly of garments. You should be knowledgeable in womenswear, menswear, tailoring, outerwear and dressmaking skills as well as being able to offer technical support to making active and non-active sportswear and the appropriate construction techniques. You should also be familiar with lingerie and swimwear techniques including sonic welding non-sew technology applications. In particular, a working understanding of both modern and traditional techniques in handling a wide range of fabrications is desirable in order to help students add value to their designs. Knowledge of the construction of ‘soft’ equipment and accessories construction will also enhance your ability to support students. You should be willing to learn and demonstrate other applications such as couture or ‘atelier’ techniques. 

You will be required to run workshops in the above areas, produce demonstration and reference materials for students, and help to maintain and run the sewing workshop facilities as well as remaining up-to-date with current and forthcoming technical developments in support of learning, teaching, research and enterprise activity in the faculty.
