Senior Technician – Media (Creative Software and Photography)

Working with the Academic Team within the Department of Design you will have primary responsibility for supporting and managing the faculty’s design creative studios and photography areas. You will work across a number of creative areas including but not limited to Fashion, Design for Industry, Graphic Design and Arts. This will include providing specialist technical support and induction to staff and students within the photography studio, including digital image processing, large format printing, and a special emphasis on software demonstration and support for design and media packages including Adobe Creative Cloud. In addition, you will run workshops, produce demonstration and reference materials for students, and help to maintain and run the resources available, including managing the health and safety of your key work areas.

You should have comprehensive knowledge of current technical practice relevant to Photography and design software. This should include demonstrable knowledge and understanding of Adobe Creative Cloud in particular Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and Premiere, as well as a practical and theoretical knowledge of stills photography using Digital SLR Cameras and associated peripherals in a studio environment. A team player, with excellent interpersonal skills, you will have experience of developing and delivering demonstration activities to provide excellent student experiences. Keeping up-to-date with current and forthcoming technical developments with special emphasis on Digital Media in support of learning, teaching, research and enterprise activity in the faculty is essential to be successful in the role.
