Senior Research Associate

 The Senior Research Associate will take a leading role in conducting an exciting joint Newton-Fund research programme between UEA and Peking University. The appointed candidate will be responsible in delivering research outputs for “Integrated assessment of the emission-health-socioeconomics nexus and air pollution mitigation solutions and interventions in Beijing”.

The research focus of this role spans from emission accounting to input-output modelling. The candidate should be able to evaluate the energy resource and health impacts of alternative air quality management interventions. Fluent in speaking and writing in both English and Chinese are essential. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a high level of attention to detail, a flexible attitude and you must enjoy working as part of a team. You will be expected to have extensive travelling among partnering countries within the EU and internationally.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively both within this project and with colleagues in other linked projects within the UK-China Air Pollution Consortium, attending and organising consortium meetings and events and spending time based at other institutions. They will also take a leading role in report and journal/policy paper writing.

We are seeking applicants who are highly skilled in emission inventory, low carbon city development and input-output analysis, with complementary interdisciplinary research interests embracing energy and health. You will have a minimum of a PhD degree in ecological/environmental economics or related field, or be close to completion and be able to fulfil all essential elements of the person specification.

This full time post is available from 1 May 2018 for a fixed term period until 20 February 2019.
