The Nuffield Department of Population Health (NDPH) contains world-renowned population health research groups and provides an excellent environment for multi-disciplinary research and teaching. It is one of the world’s leading centres for research into chronic diseases, such as cancer and heart disease.

We are seeking an enthusiastic Medical Statistician to work with Professor Sarah Darby on a research programme that aims to obtain quantitative information regarding the long term outcomes of cancer treatments. Contributing to several aspects of the group’s projects, you will collate and link data, design, develop and implement statistical analyses and prepare tables, figures and manuscripts for presentation and publication.

To be considered for this role you will have a relevant PhD or a good degree at MSc level with substantial numerical content, e.g. mathematics, statistics, computer science, or a physical science. You will have demonstrable programming ability using a statistical package (e.g. Stata, R/S-plus, SAS), experience in statistical analysis of medical data and a good understanding of statistical methods such as regression and GLMs.

The post is full-time (although part-time considered) and fixed-term for 2 years in the first instance.
