Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Immunology and Infection

A position is available for a fixed term Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Immunology and Infection to work in the group of Professor Paul Kaye. For ~40% of your time, you will be responsible for delivering teaching at undergraduate and masters level to Biology / Biomedical Sciences BSc students and MBBS students, in the broad areas of immunology and infection (including recent translational and clinical research developments). For ~60% of your time, you will conduct research focused on leishmaniasis. Details of specific research projects will be determined in consultation with the appointed candidate, but techniques may include use of murine models, intra-vital and / or MS imaging and CRISPR/Cas9 editing.

You will have excellent communications skills, have an interest in teaching and learning, be able to plan and manage teaching independently and as part of a team. You will have a range of core research skills in immunology, cell and molecular biology, experience of managing your research and the supervision of others. You will have a PhD in immunology or similar subject, and a track record of high quality publications in international journals. You must hold a current Home Office personal licence and have experience of working with animal models of disease.

The post will be based within the Centre for Immunology and Infection, Hull York Medical School and the Department of Biology at the University of York.

The starting salary will be within the range of £38,832 - £47,722 a year and the post is full time (37 hours a week) and available from 1 May 2018 for two years in the first instance (with potential for renewal until March 2022).
