About the role:

You’ll join our Department of Biology, based in our Faculty of Science and Technology. We’re a forward-looking and enthusiastic department with a vision that combines commitment to a strong and active research culture with excellence in learning and teaching.

We’re seeking a motivated academic who has the commitment and ability to make a full and active contribution to our teaching within the department. You’ll contribute to teaching and administration in our courses, which cover areas of animal behaviour, biodiversity, conservation, marine biology and zoology. You’ll also contribute to our research culture, working with colleagues in the Animal and Environment Research Group (AERG). The AERG had 22 staff submitted for the recent REF exercise, and the majority of our papers were judged as internationally excellent or world leading.

You’ll have a degree and PhD or professional doctorate in a molecular ecology-related discipline (For grade 5: PhD or nearing completion within the first 18 months of employment). You’ll have teaching experience in Higher Education, be committed to research and prepared to work as part of multi-disciplinary teams as well as developing your personal research activities. You’ll also possess excellent communications skills and will demonstrate a flexible approach to work. The successful candidate will contribute to teaching at all levels (Level 3 to Level 7). Your research will compliment and support our departmental research strategy and contribute to the next REF.
