Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering (Teaching and Research)

University of East Anglia - Faculty of Science

UEA introduced Engineering to the Faculty of Science in 2011 in order to support the rapidly growing need for engineering graduates in the region and internationally. There is a long-term vision for the creation of a School of Engineering to expand in this vital area and the progress we have made so far is extraordinary.

While our strengths have so far been rooted in energy engineering, there is great potential in the region for growth in other engineering disciplines. This has led us to create a modern integrated suite of BEng and MEng undergraduate degrees with a common entry and flexible pathways in specific disciplines such as electrical, electronic, and mechanical engineering. This is opening up new opportunities for collaboration with local industrial partners.

This new position, as part of our continued investment in Engineering at UEA, will build upon research and teaching excellence and foster interdisciplinary collaboration across the Faculty, University, our partner Institutes in the Norwich Research Park, and Industry.

The post holder is likely to be a high calibre engineering researcher from the discipline of mechanical engineering, with a minimum of a PhD (or equivalent qualification) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline. There are opportunities for collaboration with teams in Schools across the Faculty of Science, and for strengthening links with the regional engineering industry. Applications would also be welcomed from researchers in other engineering disciplines who have experience in teaching mechanical engineering.

This full time post is available from 1 August 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Closing date: 11 April 2018.

The University is a Bronze Athena Swan Award holder, currently working towards Silver.
