Deputy Director

University of Roehampton - School of Education

The School of Education is seeking to appoint a Deputy Director to support the Director in delivering an excellent education for our students.

As the successful candidate, you will take significant responsibility for the maintenance of our effective framework for developing staff, managing resources and implementing and developing School and university policy. In addition, as part of the School’s Strategic Leadership Group, you will work positively with the Director of School and other academic colleagues to co-ordinate and create plans to achieve a number of strategic targets such as improved student satisfaction, improved student outcomes and effective resource management. You will have a range of international research outputs or have a significant background in professional practice.

You will have experience of leadership and management and will be expected to have a well-rounded understanding of how to translate strategic plans into positive outcomes for students and staff. You will be able to engage at a senior level with stakeholders including relevant accreditation and professional bodies, organisations and academic partners, and the post holder will contribute to building a national and international profile.

This is an ideal post for someone looking for a career in senior leadership in Higher Education as you will be invited to join a number of cross-department and whole-university groups and projects.

This is an exciting time for the University; our new £35m state-of-the art library has just opened and we are continuing to develop a number of external partnerships across the globe.

We have a strong emphasis on supporting our students to reach their full potential in order to launch themselves onto successful graduate careers and we are embarking on a radical programme of enhancement in learning and teaching across all our academic areas. ‘In the Complete University Guide 2018, Roehampton is the highest-ranked modern university in London. Modern, or new, universities are defined as those granted university status post-1992. Complete University Guide does not itself define modern universities and does not produce a separate league table in which these are ranked.’

The University has a beautiful, vibrant parkland campus, is located in the heart of south-west London and offers excellent facilities for researching, learning, teaching and working.

To find out more information about the role and what we’re looking for, visit the Working at Roehampton section of our website where you will find full details, how to apply, as well as further information about the benefits of working for us.

The closing date for completed applications is: 9 April 2018.

It is hoped that interviews will be held during early May 2018.

The University is an equal opportunities and ‘disability confident’ employer.
