Subject Leader in Pharmacy

University of Huddersfield - Applied Sciences

An exciting opportunity has arisen to support education and training within the School of Pharmacy at the University of Huddersfield. We are a successful department offering excellent teaching and research facilities and are seeking to appoint an experienced academic with a PhD in a pharmaceutically relevant area to support the delivery and administration of courses in Pharmacy. Pharmacy is a subject with a strong professional base. The subject area includes the Master of Pharmacy (MPharm), the delivery of which is the main focus for the role, Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses for Pharmacy Technicians and an increasing number of postgraduate students working towards PhD. We also have postgraduate MSc courses in Pharmaceutical Formulation and Business Strategy and Drug Discovery and Business Strategy and an accredited Independent Prescribing course.

The four year, full-time MPharm course achieved first full accreditation from the General Pharmaceutical Council in 2012 when the first students graduated and underwent a full re-accreditation in 2014 and successful interim visit in 2017 with no conditions or recommendations. There is a vibrant student body and pride ourselves on our gold-standard teaching and our multi-disciplinary research.

The School of Applied Sciences has a varied teaching and research portfolio that is drawn from its three departments – Chemical Sciences, Pharmacy and Biological Sciences. With its unique blend of chemistry, pharmacy and biology, these close working relationships have resulted in many successful collaborative research programmes and is a key part of our research strategy. The School is looking to build upon these successes for its REF2020 submission and beyond.

The Pharmacy Department is a great place to work with a supportive and collegiate environment and excellent research facilities.
