The Department of Physics and Astronomy has active research programmes in soft matter physics, semiconductor physics, astrophysics, high-energy particle physics and biological physics. All of these groups contribute to a dynamic research environment.

We are seeking a Research Associate in Quantum Error Correction in the LDSD Group at Sheffield working with Dr Earl Campbell. The post forms part of the QCDA European network on Quantum Code Design and Architecture. QCDA is funded through the QUANTERA programme running from 2018 to 2021 with nodes in Sheffield, London, Delft, Paris and Munich. Further details on QCDA can be found at

You should possess, or be close to obtaining, a PhD in the theory of quantum computing or a related field (or have equivalent experience). You will have experience in quantum error correction and fault tolerant quantum computing. You may have an undergraduate background in any relevant area such as Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.
