£30,688 - £38,833 per annum. Potential to progress to £42,418 through exceptional contribution.

Are you interested in working for a world top 100 University? We have an exciting opportunity for an extremely experienced and enthusiastic engineer to join the Applications team in the AMRC Machining Group. Through the interactions with AMRC partners you will help develop a vision of the needs and direction of your specific research area within the Applications team.

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be part of the Machining Group Applications team as an experienced Manufacturing Engineer that will provide skills and experience to the team. You will focus on the testing and development of fundamental engineering processes and strategies ultimately driving best practice methods and new technology to the applications teams in the Machining Group. Additionally, you will investigate areas of research and applied engineering techniques which can enhance productivity and quality of machining processes focusing on developments in either aerofoil machining, structures machining and landing gear development, rotative components machining, aerospace casings, cutting tool technologies and gears machining.

You will:

  • Have a good honours degree in an engineering discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Have the ability to plan, monitor and revise requirements based on changing circumstances and events.
  • Have effective communications skills, both written and verbal. Where possible experience in report writing skills, delivering a variety of presentations, communicating to staff at all levels.
  • Have the ability to assess and organise resources, plan and progress personal work activities, with the support and guidance of the line manager.

The Machining Group is part of the AMRC with Boeing and focuses on the research, development and application of state of the art machining technologies ( The group has an excellent track record of developing technology and integrating it into a shop floor environment to demonstrate financial benefit to partners. This ability to translate technological advances into bottom line savings has led to a large growth in demand from especially its aerospace partners and a growing need for skilled engineers with an interest in manufacturing.
