Lecturer in Computer Science

University of Leeds - Faculty of Engineering - School of Computing

Are you an academic with proven abilities to carry out teaching and research in Computer Science and related topics? Are you passionate about delivering an exceptional student experience in a research-intensive Russell Group University?

As Lecturer, you will carry out research, teaching and management within the School, Faculty and University, and contribute to academic leadership in the field of Computer Science with specific emphasis on our Joint School Programme with Southwest Jiaotong University in Chengdu, China.

The post will be part of the University’s “flying faculty” staff, delivering teaching in both Leeds and China. Teaching at SWJTU is in short intensive blocks, which means that you will be expected to spend some of the year (typically 3 to 6 weeks in a calendar year) in Chengdu, working at the Joint School. The majority of your time will be based at the University of Leeds.

Undergraduate students at the Joint School study 4-year Bachelor degrees, with a common first year that focuses on core study skills and knowledge in English (including development of language skills and technical skills in mathematics and physics). From year two onwards students study specialist modules based around their choice of major (Computer Science, Civil Engineering with Transport, Electronic & Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering). All study and all teaching and assessment is in English, mirroring the Leeds' syllabus for each degree programme, supplemented by additional material to ensure that requirements for the relevant SWJTU degree are also met.
