Based on the Energy and Power Division, you will work on an EPSRC-funded project to examine the control and performance of grid-linked storage assets at the equipment level, and also on the wider grid scale. Using our state-of-the-art energy storage facilities, you will drive forward a new strand of research to evaluate the electrochemical energy storage system design, operation, and grid-wide control. Our facilities include a Siemens Siestorage, grid-linked, lithium-ion energy storage system, a high-power battery life-cycle test system and a real-time digital simulator (RTDS). You will be part of a team of collaborating researchers from universities across the UK.

You will hold, or be about to obtain, a PhD in electrical engineering and must have practical experience in electrical systems. Experience in the modelling and testing of grid-linked energy storage systems would also be a distinct advantage. You will be able to interact effectively with researchers from other disciplines and industrial partners. 2 posts available, one for 12 months and one for 24 months.
