Based in the Energy and Power Division, you will work within an EPSRC-funded, multi-partner project to design electric drives for electric power generation in waste-heat recovery systems based on thermoacoustic technologies. Your research will focus on the design of linear alternator configurations and related control strategies for automatic -acoustic impedance tuning, maximum energy extraction and vibration attenuation.

You will be part of a team of collaborating researchers from universities across the UK.

You will hold, or be about to obtain, a PhD in electrical engineering and must have practical experience of electrical machines and drives, including experimental validation, computer modelling and simulation and control implementation. Familiarity with the modelling, control, design and testing of linear electrical machines would be a distinct advantage. You must be able to interact effectively with researchers from other disciplines and industrial partners. The post is available for 36 months.
