Job Summary

To work with the Director of Studies to plan, organise and co-ordinate a range of programmes and ensure an excellent learner experience is provided. You will have overall responsibility for reporting regularly on the welfare and performance of learner cohorts including retention, achievement and completion. There will also be some teaching attached to the post, which is reviewed annually.

Main Duties and Responsibilites

Course Coordinator - to assist the Director of Studies:

  1. Responsible for the day to day direction of operations to the Academic Team ensuring the activities meet the needs of learners and take best practice into account so that learners achieve their learning outcomes and progress to university, further training or employment.
  2. To manage the performance of assigned cohorts by ensuring:
    A) Pastoral support is provided by the Academic Team and/or the Student Welfare Officer.
    B) Attendance rates are monitored and Absence /At Risk policies are adhered to ensuring timely interventions take place that supports learners to keep engaged with learning.
    C) Liaison with academic, support staff and managers as necessary to ensure timely interventions to support learners successfully achieve and complete their studies.
    D) Student withdrawals take place in a timely manner in line with policy.
    E) Weekly reports are presented to Programme Leaders and Assistant Principal. 
  3. Provide guidance and support to Academic staff regarding the implementation of the College’s academic regulations and quality assurance practices.
  4. Ensure timely compliance with IV/EV requirements, assessment schedules and course review activities.
  5. Support and contribute to the development of innovative approaches to curriculum delivery.
  6. Work with Unit Leaders to ensure the highest standard of course materials and resources (e.g. schemes of work, online resources and course materials).
  7. Support the Programme Leaders with the timetabling and deployment of staff, to ensure efficient utilisation.
  8. To co-ordinate and deploy resources including support with the recruitment, induction, development and support of new staff and Unit Leaders.
  9. To work with the Marketing team to develop publicity materials to attract learners from all sections of the community.
  10. To assist the Programme Leaders and Assistant Principal to organise the day-to-day operations of the curriculum area e.g. arranging cover, organising local arrangements for open evenings or other college related events.
  11. To hold meetings with Unit Leaders to support student success.
  12. To work with the Assistant Principal and Programme Leaders to ensure that the learner voice is central to College developments and informs decision-making.
  13. Oversee and develop high quality enrichment for all students.
  14. To be high profile within all areas of the college and ensure that professional standards are evident in all aspects of the curriculum’s operation and that learner standards are rigorously and consistently applied.

Teaching duties remain central to the role and Course Coordinators will be expected to undertake the full range of duties of a Lecturer (HE)
