Lecturer in Digital Architecture

University of Sheffield - Faculty of Social Sciences - School of Architecture

The Sheffield School of Architecture is making a strong commitment to strengthening disciplines and increasing its research profile, leadership, and learning and teaching through investment in key areas. We are seeking applications for a full-time Lecturer in Digital Architecture to make a positive contribution to our ambition. You will have an excellent research track record of high quality publications and other forms of design and research innovation at an international level, evidence of external funding capture and collaborative work. As a future member of People, Environments and Performance (PEP) research group, you will be working closely with colleagues to develop the international research standing of the School.

You will be a qualified architect with a PhD (or equivalent relevant experience) in a relevant built environment discipline, ideally in the field of Digital Architecture, and will be able to demonstrate experience in delivering teaching, and knowledge and ability in managing and enhancing a teaching programme. We are particularly interested in applicants who have experience of carrying out architectural design using digital fabrication or parametric design.

As Leader of Year 1 of the BA in Architecture (RIBA Part 1) you will have overall responsibility for the delivery of all modules in Year 1, as well as integration of the digital design aspects across the BA and MArch (RIBA Part 2). The role includes leadership, studio teaching, digital design lectures and workshops, as well as supervision of dissertations. The BA in Architecture is the largest course in the School, and therefore you will have the strong interpersonal skills necessary to deliver an excellent student experience to a large and diverse cohort. You will join a large and diverse group of research and teaching staff and will have the enthusiasm and commitment to actively contribute to our teaching environment.
