Programme Director/ Senior Lecturer in Interior Architecture and Design

Birmingham City University - Birmingham School of Architecture and Design

Joining the Birmingham School of Architecture and Design you will be responsible for leading the BA (Hons) Interior Architecture and Design programme as well as running the 3rd year of the course. You will lead and coordinating a team of full time staff, fractional staff, and visiting tutors, and ensure the smooth running of the programme, reporting directly to the Head of School.

The programme has been through substantial change over the last few years (including a new title to define a new Interior Architecture bias) but has an emerging reputation which is bolstered by its location in a strong School of Architecture and Design, increasing recruitment, a new Foundation course, and a significant overseas presence with programmes in Hong Kong, Malaysia, and India.

Previous teaching experience is absolutely essential, with level / year or course leading experience highly desirable. Excellent administrative skills are needed as is the ability to multi-task. We are looking for someone to lead the programme into a bright future and so excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills are essential.

We will look to you to ensure an excellent student experience through the use of relevant and inspiring learning, teaching, and assessment methods. You will also provide support and mentoring to individual students via our personal tutor system.

Other duties and opportunities will include assisting with strategic School level decision making, cross School teaching and activities such as live project modules and superstudio, leading student trips, research and/or enterprise work, and contributing to our overseas teaching commitments with our international partner Institutes in Hong Kong and Malaysia.
